The award of $10000 is given directly to the school.

Who's eligible?

If you are interested in applying to the Judy Corman Memorial Scholarship and Internship from Scholastic, the first thing you should do is to get acquainted with the eligibility requirements to make sure that this award is right for you.

Eligibility and qualifications include that the applicant has to be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident who lives in NY, NJ, CT, or PA and a high school senior who is a permanent resident of and attends a high school in one of these states.

Also, the scholarship is available to college undergraduate and graduate students who are permanent residents of one of these states and a good thing to know is that college undergraduates must be full time and graduate students can be full time or part-time.

Furthermore, graduate students must also be members of New York Women in Communications in good standing.

Last, but not least, those U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents who do not live in NY, NJ, CT, or PA but who are currently enrolled in a communications program at a college/university in New York state may apply.

When it comes to qualification requirements, an applicant must be majoring, planning to declare a major in a communications-related field at an accredited college/university in the U.S.

Communications-related fields are advertising, broadcasting, communications, digital media, English, film, journalism, marketing, public relations, or publishing.

He/she has to have an overall GPA of 3.2 or better.

When applying for this award, besides filling out the online application during the application period and submitting it before the deadline, applicants have to attach a resume, an essay on one of 2 topics, 2 letters of recommendations- one from a teacher and one from an employer for undergrads and grad students or 2 from teachers for high school seniors and ask their school to send the scholarship committee the most recent transcript.
