Hampton Roads Pride is the organization founded to help the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people to reach the equality with other people.

It has existed since 2007, giving 25 awards exceeding $60,000 to students in colleges, universities or trade schools.

Who will get the scholarship depends on person’s merit and community involvement.

Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship it there to help people who cannot cover the basic education expenses and who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or are LGBT allies.

Their main goal is reaching the inclusion, dignity and equality of all people.

Who's eligible?

The first and foremost,  you need to be attending an accredited higher educational institution in the United States, including high schools, community colleges, undergraduate and graduate programs and trade schools.

Additionally, you need to have a grade point average above 3.0 which will be proven via official transcripts attached to application.

To be eligible, you do not need to identify as LGBTQ, but you should support and be allied with the LGBTQ community.

The recipients will be chosen by members of Hampton Roads Pride’s Scholarship Committee.

How to Apply

If you wish to apply for this scholarship and find yourself eligible, your application must be submitted before April 1, 2024.

The application form which needs to be filled out can be found on the official website.

Besides filling out all the fields, you will be asked to submit a written essay of 1000 words minimum, in which you should speak about your hobbies and passions related to your service to the LGBTQ community.

What should also be included in the essay are the details related to achieving any awards or recommendations and you should explain your educational goals.
The requirements in relation to the essay are that it must include first and last name in the header on each page, be saved in .doc, .docx. .txt, or .pdf format, its text should be double-spaced, written in Arial font and 12-point size.

Application is not complete if you do not provide essay and official transcripts.

All documentation can be submitted online or sent to the official mailing address and incomplete application would not be accepted.
