Eleanor Allwork Grant is a merit-based scholarship whose aim is to encourage architecture students to continue fulfilling their dreams even though they have certain financial difficulties.

The organization gives awards of up to $7,500 each and there is an Honor(s) grant which is up to $10,000, presenting an excellent help and support for students.

However, being merit-based it means that students who want to apply for this scholarship have to be nominated by the dean or chair of the school of architecture in which they are currently attending.

Full Description

In order to be able to get this amazing financial aid, you will have to be a student with a high level of academic performance and financial need and the decision who will get the grant will be judged according to student’s portfolios with three projects.

Who's eligible?

Students who are eligible for this scholarship should be seeking their first degree in architecture from an NAAB-accredited school in the State of New York and the dean or chair of the architectural school would choose two students from their respective college or university to apply.

They have to possess a high level of academic performance and evidence of financial difficulties determined by  the Financial Aid Officer of the school.

Non-eligible students are those in their final year, while a graduate student is eligible if his or her professional undergraduate degree is in a field other than architecture.

This is not a scholarship only for U.S. citizens.

 

How to Apply

Make sure to submit all the necessary documentation related to the application, which include the application form which can be found on the website, a portfolio and two letters of recommendation and these can be submitted either electronically or in hardcopy. 

Pay attention that the cover page form must be placed on the front of hardcopy submissions and that your portfolio should include three projects which will prove your work.

When letters of recommendation are in question, they must be signed and on letterhead.

One of them has to be by the nominating dean or chair and one letter must be written by a faculty member.
